In Person Assessment ADA Eligibility:
A Catalyst for Effective ADA Paratransit Demand Management
-One Day Course-
ADA paratransit demand escalates at a growing rate, creating difficult challenges for transit providers in their provision of efficient and responsive fixed route and paratransit services. This course examines the use of ADA eligibility in person interviews and assessments for people with disabilities as a referral engine to other forms of transportation services such as fixed route, accessible taxi services, general Dial-a-Ride, circulator services and human services paratransit providers.Objectives:
- Understand how ADA Paratransit service criteria affects demand
- Review the extent to which the mobility accessibility characteristics of your community affect demand
- Know the different methodologies for ADA eligibility and travel training in use today
- Have a better understanding of different mobility options for people with disabilities
- Apply this understanding of different mobility options to your community
- Understand how In Person Assessments affect ADA eligibility and demand
- Know the concepts and process for conditional and trip eligibility determinations
- Determine how trip eligibility can be integrated with other mobility options and travel training
- Discuss an eligibility process mobility advocate model
- Review real life applications of reduced demand and increased cost savings
