Creating Effective Bus Policies for Improving Service
-One Day Course-
This course examines a methodology for the creation of clear, common sense policies that ensures standardized provision of service despite a diversity of bus operators, transit providers and types of service. Actual policies from transit providers around the country are used to demonstrate policies that are effective and those that are not. Policies are examined in the areas of transit operations, training, vehicle maintenance, ADA compliance and service to people with disabilities, and safety, security and emergency preparedness. Attendees, through class exercises, develop skills on writing effective policies. The class provides opportunities to take inventory of local transit policies and identify new policies that must be created.Objectives:
