Paratransit Demand Management

-One Day Course-

This course examines the growth of demand on paratransit service to include complimentary ADA paratransit. Participants are asked to analyze the factors contributing to the growth of demand in their communities to include ADA paratransit service criteria, community infrastructure, the ADA eligibility process and population, and community growth patterns. Participants discuss community mobility options used in their communities that are effective strategies to better manage demand. Finally, the creation of a demand management plan is discussed in terms of capturing political and public will.

Objectives:

• Understand how growth of demand in your community affects your Paratransit (Dial-A-Ride and ADA) services
• Understand short and long term factors in your community affecting Paratransit demand
• Know how to build a Demand Management Plan tailored to your community
• Inventory existing travel training and mobility options in your community
• Understand how ADA eligibility processes affect demand
• Learn techniques to capture public and political will
• Develop short and long-term goals to better manage demand in your community
• Identify the resources needed to achieve your short and long term goals
